Though most people only think of Nevada as being mostly dessert, the landscape is represented by sandy deserts, rugged, snow covered mountains, forested mountain slopes, and grassy valleys. Covering more than 110,567 square miles, Nevada is the 7th largest state. With more than 150 mountain ranges, Nevada has more mountain ranges than any other state, which may be shy the Mean Elevation of the state of Nevada is 5,500 feet above sea level. The highest point in Nevada is Boundary Peak at 13,140 feet above sea level. |

| We just arrived back from our three-day trip to the Grand Canyon. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate very well. It was beautiful the day before and after, but the actual day of our train ride to the canyon it was cold, windy and very cloudy. In spite of it all we still got some great pictures and can't wait to go back for another visit. Here is a picture of the first view we saw as we walked to the edge of the rim. Pictures seem to be inadequate in displaying the depth and expanse of such a view. | |
