Though most people only think of Nevada as being mostly dessert, the landscape is represented by sandy deserts, rugged, snow covered mountains, forested mountain slopes, and grassy valleys. Covering more than 110,567 square miles, Nevada is the 7th largest state. With more than 150 mountain ranges, Nevada has more mountain ranges than any other state, which may be shy the Mean Elevation of the state of Nevada is 5,500 feet above sea level. The highest point in Nevada is Boundary Peak at 13,140 feet above sea level.
