One of my photographic interests is seeking out natural occurring textures in nature and then finding and creating unique ways to present them. Often, I find that taking away the aspect of color allows one to concentrate more on the actual texture or design while at the same time adding elements of wonder or imagination. It can even help to create a guessing game as to the true nature of the subject.
Using Paint Shop Pro, the above image was created from the photo on the right by first converting it to a grayscale, followed by a series of cropping, flipping and sharpening techniques.
